Salute Her – No Man’s Land
A research study exploring the experience and needs of women veterans in the UK. The workshop will hear the national findings from the Forward Assist Project and hold an open discussion on the position within the South East and look for suggestions on what can be done locally going forward.
Gambling is often described as a “hidden addiction” with many still think of it as a ‘male issue’. However, GamCare statistics have shown an increase in the number of women callers. The workshop is an opportunity to look at how to reduce gambling related harm experienced by women and the support available.
Marking the 20th anniversary of the lifting of the ban of LGBT people being able to serve openly in the Armed Forces, an opportunity to hear past and present stories and have a discussion on current support for both serving personnel and veterans.
Did you know there was an airship station in Willingdon during World War 1? Gasbags Ahoy! The fascinating story behind the World War 1 Royal Navy Airship Station Polegate will also be on display. The Gasbags Ahoy! Exhibition was made possible by Heritage Lottery Funding and the hard work of local residents.
It is planned that there will be a mixture of ex-service personnel and professionals (many of whom are veterans themselves) sharing their inspirational stories and triumphs.
We will also be running the Service Champions Awards for 2020 to recognise and reward our Service Champions for their hard work and support of the Armed Forces community. Peter J Field Esq Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of East Sussex will be presenting the awards.
